The Montreal Dermatology Research Institute (MDRI) is pleased to announce that Dr. Martin Olivier is the recipient of the 2022 grant for research on neglected tropical diseases related to the skin.
Dr. Martin Olivier is an internationally renowned immunoparasitologist and full professor in the Departments of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology at McGill University and the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). He is affiliated with the Centre’s Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health program where he and his team use cell biology, immunology and proteomics methods to explore the pathogenesis of malaria, leishmaniasis and certain viruses.
Dr. Olivier is Director of the Infection and Immunity Division of the FOCiS Centre of Excellence in Translational Immunology (CETI) at the MUHC. Throughout his career, his research has focused on immunology and parasitology, and has led to advances in nanovaccine technology, anti-inflammatory molecules and immunomodulators.
Dr. Olivier has published over 180 peer-reviewed articles and presented at over 200 conferences worldwide. He has also supervised over 100 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to date.
In 2021, Dr. Olivier received the Bernhard Cinader Award, the highest distinction awarded by the Canadian Society of Immunology for outstanding work in the field.
